The request came from architect András Krizsán to design the furniture for the Piliscsaba Lutheran Church that he designed, with plans created by András Göde and assisted by János Lődi.
The goal was to make the furniture fit into the architectural space as if it were various scales of a single thought. It's both sacred and functional. Both contemporary and traditional. Both humble and ceremonial. But the most important thing was a timeless appearance. Say little, but make sure it's understandable even 50 or 100 years from now.
We wanted the furniture in the church to serve more as tools, just like faith is a natural part of the community's everyday life. We aimed for them to subtly transform into sacredness during worship. Every piece of furniture in the altar area is mobile. This is because the church isn't just a place for worship services but also hosts concerts and smaller conferences, so it can be flexibly rearranged for different uses.
The highlighted parts of the oak furniture are symbolically made from olive wood.
